The Calgary Numismatic Society exists to:
Promote the hobby of collecting coins, medals and paper money.
Hold regular monthly meetings where interested individuals can meet and network.
Host numismatic events to share our hobby with the Calgary community.
Summary of Position:
The treasurer of the Calgary Numismatic Society serves in a volunteer capacity to ensure that the finances of the club are kept in order. The role requires precise attention to detail, a high level of organization, and a commitment to attending monthly executive meetings, among other duties. A clean background check from the Calgary Police Service is also required.
Our ideal candidate will have some background in math, finance, accounting or related experience, an interest in the field of Numismatics, and a desire to give back to the community through service with the Calgary Numismatic Society. Prior experience in the not-for-profit sector and experience with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis documentation requirements is also a plus.
Attend our regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month from September to June
Attend our executive meetings on the second Tuesday of each month also from September to June.
Receive fees and revenue owed to the club
Receive and payout winning bids, over the course of our monthly informal auctions.
Payout club expenses as incurred.
Maintain separate records for our different bank accounts for the purpose of AGLC documentation requirements.
Fill out and submit the annual charitable returns to the government and the AGLC to maintain the clubs charitable registration.
Prepare and present the annual financial report at the club’s annual executive meeting.
